The Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is a non-collecting institution presenting dynamic exhibitions and programs. For first-time visitors to Richmond, there are many reasons to start at the ICA. You can take a self-guided tour that takes in the city's vibrant neighborhoods, from the historic Jackson Ward to the ICA at VCU. The ICA is currently seeking a new director to help the museum expand its outreach. Joe Seipel, a retired professor, will serve as interim director until a permanent director is found. The institute will also host an audio tour featuring the ICA's architectural and artistic features. Visitors can also request customized in-person tours. The ICA is also home to several educational programs centered on the theme of "declaration," including the new art exhibition by artist Tavares Strachan.

The Poe Museum honors the poet Edgar Allen Poe, and features the largest collection of his manuscripts and memorabilia.
