The National Live music venue

A reborn historic downtown Richmond, Virginia, music venue, The National Live is celebrating its centennial with a major renovation. Located at 708 E Broad St, Richmond, VA 23219. The theater was closed for several years, but reopened on February 21, 2008 with a 1,500-seat capacity. The renovation, funded in part by Historic Tax Credits, was an incredible success. The building's owners envisioned community collaboration and revitalization, and partnered with Historic Richmond to bring the venue back to life.


In addition to concerts, the Richmond music scene is exploding. From outdoor concerts to historic music venues, Richmond has it all! Visitors can enjoy live music at many venues, including the Byrd Theatre, a beautiful old movie house. Admission to the show is $5, and concessions are equally affordable. The theater is home to two feature films every night and a live organ show by Bob Gulledge. It is a wonderful place to spend a Saturday night with friends or family.


The National is Richmond's premier live music venue, with a history dating back to 1923. The National offers stand-by general admission concerts, and three bars for a more intimate setting. In addition to live music, there are also festivals throughout the region. You'll find something for every taste and budget at The National. The Black History Museum features art and stories from Richmond's black history. The museum is multi-dimensional, with exhibits like the Black History Timeline, Civil Rights gallery, and Jim Cros. These displays encourage interaction with the art, and many visitors stop here to enjoy the sunset. It's a perfect location to watch the sunset. This venue hosts some of the city's most popular events. You can even enjoy a concert in the evening if you have plans to stay overnight.


After a concert, you can go shopping in nearby Carytown. You'll find some unique boutiques and specialty shops in this neighborhood. While you're at The National Live, explore Carytown's diverse shopping scene. The city's independent shops, including Phoenix boutique and Fabrik, are located here. The Byrd Theatre anchors the district and shows movies for as low as $4. Whether you're a fan of classical music or jazz, there are plenty of options for entertainment in Richmond.


If you're a fan of jazz, you may want to check out the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, two miles away. With over a dozen themed gardens, the garden also features a cafe and a tea house.
