The Kent-Valentine House is an elegant Victorian mansion on the corner of Franklin and First streets in Richmond. Built in 1845, the original home was renovated in the early 1900s by architect Granville Gray Valentine. The original design was by Isaiah Rogers, a noted Boston architect. The Valentines incorporated several changes to the original home. They removed the cast-iron veranda and replaced it with a tall portico. Then, they added a two-story wing on the west side of the house.

The sculptures at The Valentine Richmond VA reflect the racist nature of this era. These works were popular during the nineteenth century and reenforced the racist stereotype that African Americans were lazy. The sculptures themselves are often a homage to the art of the time, and it's a shame that so many artists of this era are now being discredited. This exhibition will help people to discover the importance of art in Richmond. You can also learn more about the history of Richmond, VA by visiting The Valentine Museum today.

The Valentine Museum is located in the heart of historic downtown Richmond and offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's rich history. A stunning example of 19th-century Federal architecture, the Wickham House was built in 1812. Its designation as a National Historic Landmark was given by its last private owner, Mann Valentine Jr., who wished to preserve the house as a museum of the city's history. Eventually, the home became the first Valentine Museum.
